Don't get out here often enough but xmas break gave me a window to get a run in and an added motivation of FKT route to chase. Ran it solo with my inov 8 212 shoes, shorts, t-shirt montane light coat and the trusted Wolly hat. Didnt take any food or water, short enough route to go without. Weather was wet and windy with gales on the summits made for some horizontal running and wet underfoot. Starts off in the carpark i put my head down until I reached the ridge and pushed towards the first summit. On decending down to the stream from the mist I came across a group of 30 walkers who gave me encouragement before i took the last climb to Fan Foel then Fan brycheiniog. The decent down to the lake is tricky with a steep broken stone path and slippery rock. Relieved getting to the bottom greated by a man made gravel path which let's you open your stride for 100m before you hit the boggy path around the lake back to the bottom of the mountains. The path is well marked from here but there are a few routes crossing each other which had me checking the map. The path following the bottom of the mountain back to the lake is something special, technical and narrow with the theatre of the mountain surrounding you. I soon had the view of the first lake and after following the aqueduct back to the rescue hut I was back on the gravel road down to finish back at the carpark. Happy with the effort, great day on a short route which packs in so much.
