Imber village was open today, as it usually is around New Year's weekend, so I wanted to go for a visit. Decided to make a full loop of it.
I've ran this loop a lot before but this was my first time doing the 'official' Imber Range Path (Imber Ultra cuts some sections around Warminster golf club and Chitterne). Started from Gore Cross as I can run there from home, there is also some parking here (though much better parking at the large Westbury White Horse car park). Followed the signs the whole way and they are very reliable, I think you could run this without a map and rely pretty safely on the signage (they are the ones marked with a square that you can see in my photo).
Weather wasn't great, no visibility for the first 2 hours due to fog. Over half the course is pleasant gravel tracks and some tarmac, but I had forgotten how much of it goes along grassy trails, often around the sides of fields. In summer these are fine to run on, but a lot of paths at the moment have that kind of sticky mud that turns your shoes into balls and means the hamstrings have to work twice as hard, so I did a bit of sulking and walking when I got bored of kicking it off. Got a little bit of sunshine towards the end.
I think the GPX on this FKT page might be out of date with some old MOD diversions, so the one from my Strava today is probably slightly more accurate if you wish to follow a GPS.
