The Old Route Via Ghost Falls Trail Head is no longer possible. The section right at Ghost Falls TH is now Down Hill Mountainbike Only (they also reclaimed a section of trail for regrowth). They have also established a new trail that bypasses the famous Jacobs Latter segment due to erosion. The Trial is now longer and has a new starting location at Pineview Trailhead.
I've been training to do this route fast even before the route changes. I had been chipping my way toward the ascent record for the last 3 years or so. My PR to the top is 2 hours which is dang difficult. The new trail to the summit is 8 miles with 5,500 ft of vertical. Not a lot of space for running if you want to get it fast. I run where I can and have found some ways to quicken my time on the trail. I lightened my pack to the essentials (waist belt) and drank all my fluids days before the attempt to make my ascent the easiest and fastest.
This is normally an 8-12 hour hike for some due to the elevation. I'm so proud of what I've been able to do on this trail and will continue to try and beat my PR.

Your GPS says your ELAPSED time was 4:24. 42. And in your description you said… “ Made my way all the way up lone peak today. 2h 30m to the top. 2h 10m down. I’m not the best at math but… that doesn’t equate to 3:15. Get back out there and give it another rip to get that 3:15!
