I was planning to onsight this FKT the day prior, but it ended up being rainy and windy that morning so I climbed them will Chris, Tyler, and David instead. It all worked out well and I think familiarizing myself with the ridge up Pacific definitely helped. The weather come race day was much better! The ridge up Pacific is Class 3 but nothing too crazy or technical. I chose to stay ridge proper on the descent off Atlantic like Brent did during his FKT. It was solid boulder/ talus hopping- not the fastest of terrain but it worked. I had done the slope route (like Joe DeMoor did during his FKT) the day prior, but our line was not great which is why I chose to stay ridge proper. I think if you nail the right line the slope is faster. The worst part of this route is all the mud and willows down low, so if you can avoid that during the descent and hit the road higher, it should save time!
