I've contemplated the Elbert FKT for a long time, and the conditions/ fitness finally aligned! This was a special FKT to me because it was the first 14er I ever climbed back when I was not a "runner" at all. I reached the top in 1:24. This felt like I was pushing, however I know that if I was solely going after an ascent effort, there was room to push just a bit harder. It's my goal in the future to get my ascent sub-1:20. My descent time was 39 minutes. I'm pretty happy with this time- it felt like a nice balance between pushing and not being overly reckless. I wore shorts, a tank top, and the La Sportiva Prodigio Pros. I did not bring any food/ water. I had scouted the route the day prior to check conditions up high. There were a few spots of slippery mud, but overall it doesn't get much better than that! Perfect cool temps.
