Set out to Everest Mount Sanitas (29,000+ feet vert), with the additional goal of getting the FKT for number of laps in 24 hours. Started off strong, averaging laps at 45 mins, which quickly declined to hour long laps. By lap 20, I was 20 hours in exactly. Ended up getting 23 laps in 23 hours and change. Knew it wasn't enough time remaining for another one. At that point, I had hit over 30,000 feet according to my watch and had fulfilled my initial goal. Plus, my right ankle was seriously hurting me (along with everything else ha).
This FKT lends itself well to being a supported effort, with close access to the road and trailhead. I was so surprised how many people showed up to support by running laps with me and brining food. Extremely grateful and wouldn't have been possible without! I only ran by myself from about 10pm-2:30am. Glad I started at 6pm because it allowed me to run through the night on relatively fresh legs and provided an extra boost of energy when the sun came up the next morning. Did not take any dirt naps.
