The Anton-Leidinger-Trail has been a reference point for me for over 20 years - back then I was mainly riding my mountain bike and it was one of the first long and difficult tours I did with friends.
But whether by MTB (2003), gravel bike (2019) or running (2024): The memorial trail to the former honorary trail master of the Franconian Albverein was always a fair amount of work (especially the many root passages are demanding).
4 months back in winter, I had planned to tackle the trail in running mode and document it accordingly as an FKT. Part motivational goal, part "mini-adventure" - both were fully achieved: The run was a great experience (the kilometers of singletrails…). Although the markings are very good overall, I got lost three times (approx. 2-3 km plus).
Above all, fueling requires some planning (had stomach problems at the end despite three drink stops).
