Started shortly after 7am from the bridge at the bottom of the campground.
I was met with very cold temperature and trapped smoke from the Dome fire outside of Yosemite. Ran most of the way up to the Paiute meadow hut at a very leisurely pace, kept following the trail up to Tower lake. After that I picked a bad route to the summit, chose a direct and steep(er) line that ended up being very slow moving. Got to the summit and enjoyed the views along with the 50mph gusts. On the way down, I made some more poor route choices while getting back to tower lake. Nearly cliffed myself out which forced me to do some slow and technical down climbs.
In total, I stopped to filter water x3, ate 2 gels and 1 fun size sour patch kids bag. Completely bonked on the return, which felt mostly uphill..somehow.
This is a very pedestrian time, I would be curious to see someone getting after it!
