This is a fantastic adventure in a part of the Sierras that is less popular for FKTs despite being a stone's throw from Yosemite. This route is included in the Sierra Club SPS peaks list and so does see a lot of ascents, however does not appear to have been previously a focus for in a day and speed attempts.
From the trailhead in Leavitt Meadows campground, the bridge crossing the West Fork of the Walker River is a natural starting place for the route. From there enjoy the runnable West Walker River trail for about 11 miles until taking a right at the Paiute Cabin in Upper Paiute Meadows onto the Tower Lake Trail. In another 3 miles this trail ends at Tower Lake, at which point you go cross country to follow the east side of the lake up towards Tower Pass. From the top of the pass stay on the ridge to slightly west of the ridge up until your objective is in clear sight. You will see a distinct staircase chute, shown in picture 4 above, which leads to the summit. The Secore guide calls this all class 3, but I managed to find a 4th class move or two. Sign the summit register and enjoy the views from the top before reversing your route. Make sure to save enough gas to enjoy the incredibly runnable 14 downhill miles of trail back to the campgound!
