Started at 10:20 AM from the northern tip of the island.
Despite being one of the northernmost inhabited islands in Japan, the August heat was already noticeable from the start and should not be underestimated.
The first half of the route was smooth and straightforward, with no particular issues to report.
The central section proved more challenging. For roughly 10 kilometers, the vegetation becomes very dense, making it difficult to run and often requiring you to push your way through the plants.
The beach section starting at kilometer 17 is relatively technical and, unfortunately, somewhat littered with trash.
The final part of the traverse is highly scenic and makes for a very enjoyable finish.
There are no reliable water sources along the route, so be sure to carry enough water for the entire crossing. The same applies to food, as resupply opportunities are extremely limited.
A beautiful way to experience Rebun Island, linking its wild northern coastline with the more open and scenic southern trails in a single continuous traverse.
