A supported solo run with fuel stops kindly provided by my family. I chose to do this route over night to mix things up and also enjoy the peace and beauty of the route in a different perspective. I took it fairly slowly which I was glad about later on in the route.

A great mixture of trails starting with a beautiful stretch along the Thames followed by a fair amount of undulation through the woods of the Chiltern hills. I stopped in Henley after about 35km for a bite to eat and to refill my hydration vest with the very welcome help of my mum.

After this it flattened out nicely and followed the river with some great sights along the way and a fair few river crossings. The middle section takes you through a number of lovely villages and very peaceful parts of the Thames.

My next stop for food was in Maidenhead with some food and water stashed by my dad earlier in the day. At this point the temperature had dropped down towards freezing so I layered up, this also helped me to keep going as every time I slowed down I got cold.

The next section towards Windsor is mainly unlit but if run in the daytime would be ideal as its pretty wild. After this it starts to get a bit more built up as you head towards London, the Richmond river crossing is a great sight at any time of day and a great sight for the home stretch.

A great route which can be tackled year round although large sections are trails so not ideal after a lot of rain!
