I've had my eye on the Flagstaff Loop Trail for a while now. I live in Flagstaff and many of my runs have taken me on parts of this trail. In preparation for the Cocodona 250, I decided to run this trail and go for an FKT. I ran this supported with a pacer as well as a couple friends who met us at our halfway point for a vest swap. We started and finished at the Campbell Mesa trailhead and ran the loop clockwise. The route was a fun, mostly flowy loop around the entire town. I know this trail has been pieced together over many years with some connections being less established and I'm grateful I got to experience it in it's completion. We ran the first half at a fairly quick pace because the trails were so runnable and we knew there would be more climbing and technical terrain during the second half (particularly on Rocky Ridge and Forces of Nature). The second half we tried to keep consistent. I wasn't having my best day in terms of some GI distress, but I was able to keep pushing and finish right at the 7 hour mark. Love this trail!
