What could be better than a Palentine’s FKT attempt on a beautiful Saturday morning? Not much!
We started our journey at Centennial park with a pre-run bathroom stop, and some photos by the olympic rings and at the start (shoutout to Wil for biking and supporting our journey with the energy of an enthusiastic border collie). The sun was shining and we were feeling good! Smells of good food wafting through the air at the start were almost enough to distract us, but we locked in and began the run. The first couple miles through Atlanta were interested between the traffic lights and construction, but after that it was smooth sailing.
The scenery along the path was greener once we were into Freedom Park and Lake Claire - although there was a steeeeep hill waiting for us after the golf course. But we persisted on foot and bike and everyone forged on. Seeing some of the trees and flowers blooming while running through Decatur was lovely. Not making a detour to Your Dekalb Farmers Market was difficult. After that the path leveled out and and had some nice trees on both sides, and we enjoyed running through Clarkston and got to see some wild roosters! Then we ran into John who joined us for the rest of the run!
We were treated to some dandelions on the side of the path and could see Stone Mountain in the distance! We rallied for the last few miles - crossing into the park, running past the base of Stone Mountain, and finishing at the end of the path! We ended the run with hugs and high fives, and a couple more photos to commemorate the day.
