Mid 40s at the start and dry conditions. Planned to take gels every 3 miles but lost two from my pack somewhere within the first 4 miles so rationed the remaining three gels to miles 4, 8, and around 12. Was worried I’d hit the wall but went for it anyways. Drank every couple of miles ~24oz but was definitely carrying more than I needed and probably could have gotten away with just a handheld and benefitted from the weight savings. Lots of fallen leaves covering the back half and had to backtrack at times to find the trail again. Had two bad falls. Busted up my knee and shoulder but felt good aerobically and kept seeing 7:30 mile splits and decided to empty the tank over the last 3 miles. Hoping to see someone else go even faster.
