It was a pretty cloudy but crispy day. My intention was to research the route for an FKT-attempt later in January, but the weather was optimal and I had happy legs so I decided to go for it. Having new Icebugs and funny socks certainly helped as well.
Started out feeling a bit heavy due to the two liters of Umara sport and too many clothes in my backpack but it got better once I had a few sips and got further into the woods. The whole route was covered in ice and snow and people were skating on all the lakes. Was so much fun to run in the studded shoes on the Ice-covered trail, had a few near falls but the shoes found grip at the last second. Had to run beside the trail at certain points due to a lot of older hikers and horses on the trail. Hit the halfway mark in 1.53 and kept on going. My thighs started feeling really beat up the last 10k but once I started seeing familiar landmarks confirming my belief that it wasn't far to go it went away.
Did the huge mistake to sit down on the ground once I finished and had to ask someone to help me get back up due to cramps. Ate a snicker, got on my bike, went home, had a few beers, cried, and fell asleep.
A good day on a lovely trail. Might run it again this summer more focused on enjoying the environment.
Thanks to Icebug for making the run possible!
