Description

Sandsjöbacka Trail is a well marked, well liked, trail that scales the Sandsjöbacka Nature Reserve from north to south. The trail is popular among hikers and is quite technical; this offers a nice challenge even for experienced trail runners. When starting from the north, the trail begins in a popular recreational area with two lakes. Thereafter the trail heads into the coniferous forest which occasionally opens up and provide beautiful views of marshes and horse farms.

When running from north to south, the total gain/loss for the trail is approximately +450/-500 m. In order to lessen the impact of the direction chosen: The FKT can only be claimed for a run that runs both directions.

According to Västkuststiftelsen, the organization responsible for maintaining the trail, the trail is 22km. However, I have never seen a GPX track meassuring the trail to more than ~21km.
