A+ adventure. Running this has been in my head for 3 years since they finished building the trail, but could never get the timing right between snow up high, shuttle season, and heat in the valley. Took the 8 am shuttle from Rapid Creek Cycles with 10 mountain bikers. They took off fast ahead, but between the technicality of the major obstacles and stopping to eat, we ended up yo-yo'ing most of the way down after mile 15. Other than them, not a soul for the entire trail. Kept it mellow / safe throughout, just a long run effort. Heat isn't generally my friend and was likely in the 90s on the ground in the final miles out. On bike, there are a couple decent dirt road bail options, but on foot you either bail at mile 15 or you finish as the bail options are still pretty long. There are a few streams up high, but the last water fill is at ~mile 16. I left there with 2.25 L and could have used one more bottle. Still though, a gem of a route. Alpine, aspens, desert, exposure, canyons.
