Stunning fall day. I started running a little after 8 a.m. and made it to Lower Deep Creek Lake in about 2.5 hours. From there, cruised up to the summit and topped out at 3:57. The last half mile had a fresh layer of snow hiding some of the talus, which made things a little spicier.
I picked up some speed off the summit and got back to Lower Deep Creek Lake in about an hour. After that, it was all buttery singletrack through groves of glowing aspens on the way back to the car.
Cool to see Ken at the Middle Fork junction, as he was heading out on a big backpacking trip. And big thanks to Caity for nudging me into going for it. While we weren’t together most of the day, it was encouraging to know that we were both out there chasing our own fall adventures.
