This was my first attempt at completing one of Suffolk’s long-distance trails, running the Sandlings Walk point-to-point from Ipswich to Southwold over three days. The logistics worked seamlessly; I utilised a local bus service to reach the starting trailhead, and as shown on the GPX files, I left the route each evening and rejoined it the following morning at exactly the same spot to ensure a continuous line. The weather was absolutely perfect across all three days, with light breezes, mostly sunny skies with occasional cloud cover, and crucially, zero rain showers! I ran alone style, using various local shops and cafes along the path to reprovision and top up my supplies. The progression of the route towards the Suffolk coast was a massive highlight, and because the trail lacks an official, designated monument at the end, I chose to conclude the effort on the scenic cliff tops overlooking Southwold. I took numerous photos along the way to document the route, and despite a car collection being required at the finish due to Southwold's limited public transport access, I am already looking forward to ticking off Suffolk's other long-distance tracks in the near future!
