Started in the dark alone from the trailhead near Boreal. Ran solo the entire way, but I did receive aid at mile 27 from my friend and husband. Warm day for late October so it was nice to have the quick water & electrolyte refill. The most beautiful day! I only saw two people all day. Other than a stubbed toe and swarm of gnats at the end, everything was on schedule and smooth sailing. I drank 65 oz of fluid in the last 12 miles so I’m glad I had that aid! Those final miles are pretty exposed and warm. Shout out to Kate and all of the other athletes who have completed this route. This route is engaging with a lot of runnable trail, but also a fair amount of sneaky technical in there. Lots of climbing and descending. My body felt great and after failing my attempt last year, I am delighted to come back this year, shave off 90 minutes from my previous attempt, and succeed!
