Started with Jace Ives and Matt Kline, knowing the current unsupported FKT was available to us. This was one of the first sunny and over 70° days we've had. Matt started struggling after about 2 hours and gave Jace and I his car key. He later met us via hitch hiked ride, covered in salt, cramping. This is 2 for 2 times with him on this trail ending up alone making a wrong turn, getting lost then getting a ride back. I must admit, there is a slew of trailheads and they all have different names, only a few say sterling mine ditch. Pretty confusing if you dont know exactly which trail HEAD you are navigating to.
Not knowing the route very well and suprised by some late climbing and needing to hold 8:00 miles to make the time, Jace let me go ahead as I charged some up and downhill for the last 20 minutes or so to make the time. The trail mileage signs are not correct which was good because they are longer than reality and I had less distance than they claimed to finish it up.
Made it. Due to starting together and finishing alone, this is a supported effort.
