FKT: Jack Macy - Pacific Crest Trail - Hwy 80 to 49 (CA) - 2023-10-09

I ran this segment unsupported, getting water refills at White Rock Creek and Pass Creek. Beautiful route with amazing views from the ridge tops mixed with lovely forest trails. I was aiming to go under 7 hours and was 10 minutes under that pace through the second water refill at Jackson Meadows Reservoir. But I paid for my early hard push around mile 30 and hit the wall. The remaining 8 miles was a slow walk/jog. The last big down hill from mile 32-34 is a lot of loose rock and talus on switchbacks, so slow going anyway. On warmer days beware of snakes in the final 2.5 miles once you are in the canyon below 5000 ft on the sunny south facing slope.
