Started in DC at 7am with 1.5L of mix + 2x500g of mix in plastic bags to add as I go + a few assorted gu I had lying around.
First 20 miles went great, weather was pristine in the low 60s. Running 10 minute miles felt pretty good which I was happy with considering this pack was heavier than I was used to. Reupped on water by lock 20 and added the mix I’d brought. Slowed down a bit around mile 30 and planned to refuel at Whites Ferry but they didn’t have any public water fountains! Went without water from then to point of rocks which was not fun but by that point my main issue was blisters. Started feeling really good around mile 56 and picked up the pace until one of my blisters popped which caused enough pain to reduce me back to 15 minute miles around mile 60. Basically shuffled the remaining distance, wish I had trekking poles. Overall great route, be mindful of scarce water.
