Description

This is a one-of-a-kind, uninterrupted historic route from the waterfront of the Nation's Capital to the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers at Harpers Ferry - a National Historical Park at the tri-state area of West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia. This route starts at the revitalized DC Wharf and begins through the monuments of Washington, DC and Georgetown Waterfront. It then traverses three regionally significant natural and historical destinations - Great Falls National Park, White's Ferry, and Point of Rocks. Virtually the entire trail is along Potomac River and 60 of the miles are the historic C&O Canal. The last four miles intersect with the Appalachian Trail. The point-to-point route concludes in Harpers Ferry National Historical Park.
