My husband, Nick, and I ran this together, all unsupported. We did this route together back in early 2017, but bailed at 25 miles, so fun to do the full route today and to enjoy the first in daylight! It’s always a challenge going for efforts together (and as a married couple in particular) because usually you feel good and/or bad at different times during the run, which definitely happened throughout. Big toe blisters on my feet, which is a first and likely due to the sand. We both ate well and drank okay, given that this was unsupported, so we wanted to have enough but not be weighed down too much by supplies. Nick carried 1.5L and I carried 1L and we each had about 1000 calories or so. More water would have been nice! Good weather at the beginning with a high of 70 or so at the end.
