New record for the fastest crossing of the new Via Alpina Red Route (2024)

On the 9th of August Jake set off to set the fastest time on the new/adapted Via Alpina Red route.
60km per day and 3000-4600 vertical meters per day.
British born, Jake Catterall, completed the run in 35 days. After very volatile weather conditions in the summer of 2024, the run did experience some storms & very intense heat, that would stay in the alps for the whole event.
This route of the alps will be the one walkers & runners alike will do if they attempt the Via Alpina going forward.
A statement from Jake:
"This was hardest event I have done in the mountains, I invite anyone to do it themselves and even break the record if you have it in you!"
