We were a bit fatigued from our Porkies FKT on Thursday and the first few miles did not feel good. Gretchen took 2 falls in the first 3 miles and the little descents tore up my legs. Once the sun came up, we were able to get into a good groove and the miles just seemed to click by. The constant views of Lake Superior never get old.
We refueled at a creek crossing at 20 miles and hit the reset button before the "elevation" started.
It rained on us pretty good the second half and the frequency of hikers increased significantly. There were several people out there that knew we were going for the FKT.
In the last 5 miles, the roots, mud, and boardwalks were everywhere. Gretchen dug deeper than anyone I have ever seen. Pretty sure she was riding 160bpm the entire time. I was extremely impressed with the condition and views on this trail. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
