I was visiting Patrick so we looked for a local trail to set up as an FKT. The I drove way offered a comfortable distance which wouldn’t take us away from family responsibilities for too long.
The whole week was a scorcher so we good out early to avoid the peak heat. I was new to the area and was impressed by how easy it was to feel away from civilisation and how long you could run before coming across a road crossing.
We were moving well for the first half. However, not long into the second half we realised we had underestimated the amount of fluids we needed. Patrick suffered with some cramp but bravely kept moving regardless.
Several of the paths in the in the latter parts were heavily overgrown requiring us to wade through swaths of nettles. It helped detract from the significant discomfort our muscles were feeling.
Back at the car, we were happy with our time and eager to hit up the nearest supermarket for some well earned hydration.
