It had rained a day prior so the trail was fairly muddy, but still gave it a go. Got started at 6am. Enjoyed the first mile and a bit which is super easy double track. I crossed the first bridge but part it was underwater. Tip toed on a log to not get the feet wet already. I eventually hit the hard stuff and maneuvered the best I could. Tough! Climbed through the crack and definitely used my hands to help me scramble up. Sharp right after the crack to the lookout and final blaze. I didn’t take any time to enjoy the view and started descending back down. I probably lost a ton of time here, but I really like my 2 front teeth. Got past all the rocks and then could let the legs go some. Picked up the pace the best I could and made it back to the parking lot in one piece. That’s the most important thing. Great effort for me. I’d like to keep working on this skill. It ain’t easy!
I carried no water or food. Only my car key. I wore Merrell Skyfire 2’s which worked great. Had a Coros Apex on my wrist. Now time to enjoy the park with some leisure:)
