Well, I started the 2020 FKT season with this route, so I think it was apropos that I finish the season with it! This is also my first duplicate FKT. I wanted to avoid this for as long as possible, but I couldn't resist for my hometown FKT. I was also not in the best of shape for the first one, and I wanted some redemption. I got things going at 7:45 AM. It was chilly and pretty windy. You are protected from the wind in the National Park though for most areas. I went out a little conservative, which was my plan. I felt great. You sure feel the little rollers when you're running hard. I made my way to the visitors center, then cut across the parking lot and headed for the tip, the most southern point in all of mainland Canada. The tip was really windy, coming from the east. I ran to the point where my feet almost got wet and managed to snap a pic. I then headed back the same way and attempted to pick up the pace at some point. I did my best and finished in 1:17:47. That was over 6.5 minutes faster than in March earlier this year. So I have to be pretty happy with that. It's definitely time for a break and a shift in focus. Time to get back to hiking and build into next season, where I have many adventures in the works. Love this sport!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
