What a beautiful route! Left early to be in shade most of the time. Initially, I planned to visit the ruins as well but it's very spread out, so eventually I was not keen to add 7km more to the route so turned back soon after the welcome sign.
The entrance fee (60 soles) and registration is now at Capuliyoc, might have changed over the years.
The trail was quite busy (busier than Salkantay), more hikers and lots of horses/mules. A lot of places to buy drinks and food. I also refilled from a waterfall just before Marapata when coming up.
