I set off at 7:50am having run to the start in Chester-le-Street from my home in Newcastle (and got picked up at the finish in Seaton Sluice). It's a nice pleasant route with a mix of road/trail and some good scenery and landmarks -- and finishes by the beach (including toilets and an ice-cream van!). The conditions were ideal, cool (around 3-8 degC), dry and only a modest breeze. After pre-fuelling, I drank the best part of 1000ml of coke and had some gels on the run itself.
