I was in PA for a week visiting family for Christmas, and I really wanted to attempt this while I was in town. It rained a lot during the week, but I lucked out to have a decent enough day to attempt it where there wasn't any rain forecasted, and temperatures in the mid 40s to low 50s. I started at mile marker 0 in Coraopolis on the trail at 6:26 am. My plan was to break up the 47 mile route in to 5 mile chunks, and I would try to cover 5 to 6 miles every hour, which would put me right at a 9 hour finish. The whole day went incredibly smoothly, all things considered, and I was able to keep a consistent pace pretty much all day. I took my first snack break at mile 16, and again at miles 28 and 38. I had two bottles of coke in my pack plus a ziplock bag full of Lay's potato chips, in addition to some Honey Stinger gels and energy chews. For liquid, I had two 16oz flasks of Tailwind (1.5 scoops), and a 1.5 liter water bladder. I'm really happy to have completed this! I ran segments of this trail a lot when I trained for my first marathon in 2018, so to come back a few years later after moving away and getting some bigger ultras under my belt to run the whole thing in one shot was a really cool experience.
