On what turned out to be a colder and windier day than I had thought it wold be and 5 days after my Brighton and Hove 5 Peaks FKT attempt, I noticed someone had added this one too, so thought why not.
The route is thoroughly enjoyable, after a climb up to the top of steepdown and past the trig point it's a relatively easy run towards Cissbury Ring and I had no idea just how massive it is, over a mile running around the top of the fort and the views are just amazing, I can only imagine what it looked like when it had settlers there, so much so that after I got home I went and did some research into it's history, quite the busy hill fort for the last few 1000 years !!!
I will definitely be going back there, it was the highlight of the run for me.
Once you drop back down it's a long old slog up to the top of Chanctonbury Ring, the views from which are amazing, although today there was a bit of mist creating an almost mystical view, quick loop around the top and then it's a long descent back alongside Steepdown up to Lancing Ring, quick loop around the pond and back to the start/finish.
From Chanctonbury onward I put my foot down as I love downhill running. enjoyable loop and if someone comes along and beats my time, i'll come back and do it again for sure.
