I have been eyeing this one for a while and finally decided to make an attempt today, with the weather looking ideal. I brought a waist pack with 500 mL of water, five gels and four ibuprofen. I used two ibuprofen (one at the start and another at the midpoint), four gels (miles 12, 16, 20 and 23) and 140 mL of water (a sip after each gel). I decided to start on the Sherborn end, and began at the trailhead there (where Tucker ended during his one-way FKT). I made a quick stop at a public portable toilet at Louisa Lake on the way out (around mile 10).
Obviously, a serious runner will be able to drop this FKT below three hours once someone decides to take it on--this is essentially a fast, flat marathon course. But I'm happy that at least for at least a short time, the record will come to Holliston. I really love this trail and have put a lot of miles on it!
