FKT: Jean-François Cauchon - Bigelow Range Traverse (ME) - 2019-11-11

I set out at 4:30 AM from Bigelow Range trailhead on Curry Rd in Stratton, hit East Flagstaff Rd in 5:32:15 and made it back to the car in 10:59:10. I had planned on going to the Bigelow only one week prior to the attempt and look at the FKT to have a reference time. I thought that 12:16:36 was beatable, so I decided to give it a go. I was on the snow after 30min and an average of 2-3 inches covering the trails, I put on my trail crampons after 6 miles and never took them off. Weather was not to bad with 20-30 degrees and cloudly. Completely unsupported, I filled up my 1.2 liters of water in the river near East Flagstaff Rd. There is definitely room for improvement with summer conditions.
