6:10 am start. After tons of rain on Friday, we lucked out with perfect conditions on Saturday. Despite the heavy rain the day before, the trails were bone dry (we really needed that rain!)
Did the first 40km alone. Met up with Dylan at the intersection of the #1 and Wolf. The section on the escarpment is beautiful but challenging – very glad to have his help with navigation! Stopped at Breton Beach for hot food (and a quick dip, which was amazing for my legs!). Dylan jumped off at this point and Richard joined. Had a nice section of easy running with Richard before heading into the more challenging mountain biking trails between P17 and P16. Reached p16 in Meech Valley just before sunset, grabbed headlamps and did the section from p16 to O’Brien beach in the dark. Richard traded off with Jakub at O’Brien for the final section.
Jakub was our amazing aid coordinator (with aid at Relais Plein Aire, Notch Rd, Champlain lookout, Firetower, P20 (Breton Beach), P17 (Wakefield), P16 (Meech Valley), P11 (O’Brien Beach). We had supplies in the car, although a couple aid stations required him to hike in to meet us on the trail. Paco joined Jakub to support at first two aid stations and at the finish! Very fun day, super thankful for all the amazing help and support!
