Got dropped off on Hoyt Rd and start FKT attempt at 4:21am. First few miles I walked in the dark. Ran/hiked until mile 31. I decided if I continued at this speedy pace I would be crawling by mile 40. Power hiked remaining miles. The last 10 miles were the hardest; I was so mentally drained. Online route descriptions calculate mileage anywhere from 49.5 to 53.4 miles, so I had no clue how much I had left. Finished before 9pm. The most exhausting part was probably after I finished and still had to walk 0.75 miles to the nearest road to be picked up.

Probably should have eaten more. Tried to eat at least 200cal/hr (GUs, salted nuts, candy, etc.) but still managed not to eat everything I brought with me and be in quite a deficit. Felt like I drank enough (lots of streams to fill up) but still lost a decent amount in water weight.

Didn't use trekking poles. I like having my hands free. May have been handy on some of those steep uphills, though. The steep downhills (especially at the end in the dark) were quite terrifying. Had to crab-walk!
