This was a great course, and a fun outing to cross the whole park from visitor center to visitor center. Left my car at Beaver Meadows and got a ride over to Kawuneeche. I started around 6:30 a.m. Had 1200 calories in tailwind and gels, and two 500mL bottles (and an empty filter bottle too). I was making good progress until mile 7 or 8, when a huge bull moose just stood on the trail and wouldn't move haha. After a couple minutes of waiting, I had to go around him through the grass/bushes and downed trees. Slow climb up to the continental divide, and stopped to fill both bottles from one of the last creek spots above tree line. Hit Flattop right at 3 hours, and enjoyed bombing downhill from there. The trail is surprisingly technical all the way down, with a lot of fixed and loose medium-sized rocks. The last few miles were definitely quicker back to Beaver Meadows visitor center. Overall, a fun morning!
