I scouted the Beatin Path last week and was itching to give the FKT a go. I don’t often got for fkts this short, but the wildflowers were popping, the weather window was right and I have been living in Montana since January. It was my first FKT since last December and it did not disappoint. I flew through the first half and up to fossil lake, feeling good after starting right at sunrise. From there it was just “hold on and keep running”! It was a beautiful trail and certainly should get more FKT consideration. It sits among the most majestic places I have hiked and will definitely be something I do again in the future. Between the grizzly bears, elevation, and rocky trail it can be a bit challenging, but the trail overall is nearly perfect! Weather changed quick but never was a true hindrance. 10/10 a trail as good or better than any I have ever done!
