Despite spending a lot of time on the rock pile, I had never summited Mt W via the Tuckerman Ravine Trail before, and with Run The White's Sep-Oct challenge, it seemed like time. The ascent up to HoJo’s (Hermit Lake Shelter) felt okay and roughly matched my ski PB 🤷♀️. The talus field above the ravine was challenging and I wasn’t very efficient in following the cairns, so goal 1 (TRT 👑) was out the window. I made up all the time for the round trip (goal 2) on the descent, but felt very in control the whole time.
I took two gels and fruit snacks in my pockets and carried a soft flask with some calories in it, which I refilled in the ravine on the descent. I didn't carry my phone, but I did go straight to White Mountain Ski Co afterward to buy a belt so next time I'll have it for that sweet, sweet summit photo.
Stoked to have dropped the FKT, and just waiting for the deep field of New England ladies to come and get it.
