Nice cool day for a double Skyline. Started the day going North to South, looping Santias once, and cruising down Sanita's Valley trail. This was our first time tackling the traverse from North to South, and wasn't sure what to expect with the gradual climb up to Green Mountain... and it wasn't as bad as we initially thought. We did need to put on traction as we ascended Viewpoint and Flagstaff, traction was required until we got to the base of Shadow Canyon. We took off the traction, headed down to South Mesa, took a quick break and headed right back up Shadow for our second Skyline. For the second round, we opted to ascend Shadow without traction, and we put on the traction at the Bear/SoBo saddle. We tagged South Boulder, snuck over to Bear, and dropped down the ridge for some nice easy miles between Bear and Green. We took our headlamps out of our pack and made our way back to Sanita's as the sun was going down and had a great view of Boulder as we were cruising down Flagstaff. We took off our traction at the bottom of Viewpoint, and made our way up to Sanita's for our final lap.
Overall, stout but fun line. We wore traction for roughly 26 miles, which was tough on the feet. We will be back to tackle this on dry trails in the future!
