Starting at the Jamaica Inn I headed off at a pace that was realistic. Paul Crease ran it with me. Weather was humid and fairly warm for us Brits who have only been used to the cold recently. The first third feels like you're constantly climbing. We got to Rough Tor and almost doubled back on ourselves to find the best route down. Although the running was mainly good from here the ground was wet in places and the cows had begun to churn up the terrain. I was pleased to summit Brown Willy after all its false peaks and head towards home as by now I had run out of water. There are a couple more catching climbs before you finish but essentially it's a run for home. I never thought I could get under 2hrs 30mins so when I looked at my watch leaving Tolborough Tor I pushed and pushed!
