Started at 8am from Castlemaine Station. Day was already quite warm. It's a short distance to get out of town and onto the trail which is well signposted and maintained. The trail is some single track alongside the railway lines, some dirt road and some bitumen in Castlemaine and Maldon. Met a few people walking dogs and riding bikes. The final push up to the Observation Tower on Mt Tarrengower was a rough 4WD track - very steep. Happy to see my lift back to the start waiting at the top!
