This past Friday, May 20th, I lowered the women's Zion Traverse FKT to 8:26:09.23 running from the East Entrance to Lee Pass. I ran this supported by Montrail (Eron Osterhaus) and a film crew (Myles Smythe from Sierra Studio Films/Michigan Bluff Photography and his partner Damian) who supplied me with water at the Grotto, Lava Point, and Hop Valley Trailhead. I started the run at 6:16 a.m. with Amy Sproston but we separated approx. 5-10 minutes into the run with her eventually stopping at mile 27. My friend Rick Valentine also ran the route following me for approx. 20 miles within the course and took some pictures. I, unfortunately was not wearing a GPS watch, just a watch to keep time. Eron (from Montrail) kept the official time and has the splits from each of the aid points as we were comparing my splits along the way to Bethany's. Rick had a GPS watch on. We arrived at Hop Valley trailhead close together but I left before him and finished 20+ minutes in from of him. We have both video footage proof of the FKT and the official times from Eron.
