This was my second go on this route. A few things were in my favor: I knew the course, didn't have to carry my 1/2 pound iPhone, the trail was dry so my shoes didn't get caked with heavy mud, and it was slightly cooler at 8am than the last time I ran it. I did start this tired though, having done a 4-hour 13er yesterday and a 347 mile race a month ago. I hope to come back sometime down the road while fresh and recovered, and give it my very best.
