Like others before have mentioned, I did a trial run through of the loop cause it's very easy to miss turns and not realize it. I also recommend not running it too late in the summer- even in late May much of the trail was starting to get overgrown because of how much vegetation there is.
That being said, this trail was amazing to run. It's challenging in all the right ways and is a good mix of trail, road, grass, and some boardwalks in between. The first and last miles have a lot of tree branches that makes it difficult to pick up speed, but you can make it up on the road. Around Mile 6 or 7 someone had left all these pretty, painted rocks along the trail with motivational messages so that was very sweet to see (and they weren't there when I did a trial run the week before so it was a welcome surprise).
I ran unsupported and carried all my water and fuel with me. It was a hot and humid one so I was sucking water down like crazy and was definitely feeling the heat by mile 5. Overall not bad but I'm thinking of going back on a cooler day in the fall to cut the time down even more.
