I wanted to explore this route as soon as I found out about it. There is no straightforward way to reach the northern end of the route using public transport, whereas the southern end is relatively close to the Golders Green underground station (Northern Line). The route also being relatively short (about 10 miles one-way) it was more practical to run it out and back, starting from the southern end. I ran it unsupported, carrying a hydration vest and a couple of granola bars, just in case.
Navigation is simple, with many signs (posts and yellow arrows) and mostly following a sealed path along the Dollis brook. The section around Totteridge Fields is a little bit trickier - it is on grass with a path which is not always visible (and mud when I did the run). I had to check the map and and look for the route arrows a few times after taking a few wrong turns on the way out.
