Started the attempt at the eastern end of the track at Praia da Marinha at the bottom of the wooden stairs. First was confused about the "official" path among all other little side tracks through the bushes but then focused on the markers. On the first two Kilometers the course was rocky but fairly good to run. After the first steep section right behind the cave of Benagil I had some trouble finding the right way. Headed up the hill but than realized that I had to cross the beach and climb the stairs.
Maybe 500 m later a long stairway had to been taken from the beach back to the cliffs. Behind Ponta do Saragoça a difficult trail led down. Than passed the lighthouse and had some easy meters at a exposed path alongside the cliff. I final section of stairways brought me down to the parking area at the western end of the route.
On the way back I had to struggle with the steep street right behind Benagil. Almost missed the trail when it left the street. Be careful here. Realized that it might get close to beat the FKT and accelerated a bit. In the end it was a matter of seconds and almost a photo stop made me fail!
The technical parts and the vertical gain were pretty demanding and there ist almost no shade on the entire track. The single trails were sometimes blocked by tourists.
