Returned to SRT route again for the out and back style this time! Started from Marymoor Park in the late morning on a Sunday afternoon and a fair amount of foot/bike traffic but didn't affect the run a whole lot. I touched the blue Burke-Gilman sign at the turn-around point and stopped my watch a few meters past the blue sign at the start.
I probably didn’t execute my pacing strategy very well. Likely ran the first half slightly too fast (55:43) but it was also mostly tailwind on the way out and headwinds on the way back. Finding a non-windy day out on that trail seems fairly difficult anyway! The winds and pollen also made for very scratchy eyes toward the end too. These factors made it one of my tougher FKT attempts from just a mental perspective for that 2nd half.
Took four Precision Hydration gels and a Hydrapak handheld w/ Skratch drink mix. Ran this entirely solo/unsupported. Got one cheer from a friend who coincidentally ran by me out there - woohoo! Used this run as a quality LR in my current 50k training cycle.
Certainly a lot of room for this time to be lowered!
